T.N.T. - Tubing, Natural Caves & Temples in Vang Vieng <2009.09.23>

Another 8hours bumpy mountain ride led us to Vang Vieng – the resort village of Laos. On the way you will find several pit stops where you can be drinks, food and real exotic specialities – you won`t guess.

Some animals I even didn`t know they exist, what they were selling…

Arrived at Vang Vieng it wasn`t difficult to find a nice accommodation in any style you like. We choose a nice bungalow with balcony, air-condition and close to the river for less than 12US!

From here we hired 2 bicycles and explore the riverbanks close by with its famous rice fields, lime stone cliffs and hidden caves systems.

The elephant cave is by far the most impressive one, where you have a great overview of the city and an endless cave system to explore.

Really famous is this area for “tubing” where you drift along the river in truck tubes and stop by the riverside bars along the way. We decided to combine this experience with a rafting trip where we paddle the entire 17km stopping at the explorer cave and at the last bar on the tubing track – that was incredible fun!
