Long time no read! Sorry for the long break as I could not update during my months in South East Asia. But now as I can breathe again I can reflect on our adventures …
Leaving the old capitals of Siam we took the bus to Chiang Mai - the biggest city in the north and hub to the mountain areas and the golden triangle.
As it was Saturday we had to chance to visit the more traditional night market in the center of the city. At the end it became the best one we had inn entire Southeast Asia.
Next morning we started our 3 day roundtrip to the border to Myanmar and the famous mountain city of Mae Hong Son.
We met our guide Don in the lobby where we started our way to the east in our private coach. The first stop was at the butterfly sanctuary:
Over tossing waterfalls and the biggest geyser we made our way to our first elephant trek through the jungle.
We stayed overnight in the backpacker village Pai where we started early in the morning for our bamboo rafting down the nearest stream.
After refreshing morning coffee with the best view in this area we faced the mountain challenge of the famous 1800 corner road to Mae Hong Son.
On the way we stopped at the bat cave & fish cave before we arrived in our ECO lodge Fern Resort to relax for the rest of the day.
Finally we arrived at the eastern point of our trip Mae Hong Son.
The temples here are different to the rest of Thailand as they are influenced by Burmese culture. Clear white buildings are silver decorations made of aluminum are the typical features of the temples.
The highlight of the trip and our last stop is to visit one of the view long neck villages where you can sit and chat with them our buy their local made products.
Luckily we didn`t need to drive back the way we come as we took the quick 30min flight back to Chiang Mai.
