Sailing in Paradise - Whitsunday Islands <2009.08.01>

Now it is time to do one of the top experiences on the east coast - a sailing trip around the beautiful Whitsunday Islands.

As nearly everything, it was discovered in 1770 by - guess who ... correct - Captain Iglo!
No sorry - sure it was Cook - on a Whitsunday.

Passing endless cane fields we finally arrived at Airlie Beach - the center of backpackers and the hub out to the whitsundays.

The selection of trips are endless - thus you better ask several to get some idea who might offer the best value.
We decided for the Anaconda 3 - a Mega Yacht - with lower amount of people, specialised for diving and offering private cabins.

So everyone on board and out for the next 3 days!

The first day we spend at the most famous place - the Whitehaven Beach.
One of the whitest beaches in the world - consisting of fine powder 100% silica sand.

Off we go to the outer reef - the Bait Reef at the Great Barrier Reef.

Unfortunately the sea conditions changes dramatically when you sail out of the protected islands - here it gets really bumpy x-)

But with both feet on the ground and all concentration to your stomache you can make it.

So there the days & nights pass by with spending most of time under water for scuba diving - actually the sea conditions are much better down there!

Of course the life on board is not easy at all - get up early before sunrise ...

work out to get the sails done ...

and get down with scuba to find nemo ...

so it is prety exhausting at the end!

After 3days we safely returned in Airlie Beach and are glad to put our feets back on solid ground!

Mother Earth has us back
