Time has come to do a serious bush walk – here we are, waiting at 6 a.m. to get picked up by an Isuzu 4WD bus ready to bounce us down into the bungles and around for the next 2 days.
Not knowing what will await us we board the bus and joined our friends who had been along already for 6 days on the Gibb River Road. The tour was led by Norm – over 25 years of experience in and around this area – who introduced us after a 6 hours bumpy ride into the NP with our garden site villas …2 sheets of plastic – which seemed to be our shelter for tonight!
So the adventure starts ;-)
On the first day we went to the northern side of the park and walked the Echidna Chasm – perfect harmony between palms and rocks.

Here you can see the main formations of the Bungles – the Bee Hives. Just beautiful. 20millions old which make them the youngsters of this area which is around 350mio. years old.

Waken up by the freezing temperatures and sound of the wild we were ready to go for the real walk the Piccaninny creek walk & Cathedral Gorge.
