Goodbye Oahu Island

After the nice start, it even gets better. Hawaii is really worth visiting it and we are still at the beginning of our holiday.
In the last 3 days were dedicated to completely different topics:
Snorkeling
Polynesian Culture
History of Honolulu

No1. Snorkeling spot is HANAUMA Bay – Half washed out volcano crater. It’s really nice there … even the 1 million yearly visitors are not so easy to cope with:

Further we took the hike up the Diamond Head crater where you have the best view over Waikiki and Honolulu:

Both should not be missed on any Hawaii holiday schedule … and now we can confirm that.

On the next day we visited the Polynesian Culture Centre, where you learn about all the (un)known islands who belongs to – like Samoa, Fiji, New Zealand, etc… It took as the whole day having canoe trips, Drum shows, Poi lessons, Dancing performances & many many under things which let us completely forget about the time.

It’s really nice and I never know that culture can by so funny & enjoying too. On top of it you learn a lot of other customs – for my female readers: Did you know that on SAMOA, men are doing everything (Cooking, households, working, raising the kids, etc…)? Yes – the paradise is just out there – and they even look very handsome too:

At the end of the day we enjoyed a nice Hawaiian Dinner – called Luau adding a final 90min performance at the grand theater.
What an impressive day!

Our last day on Oahu (Island) we spend by exploring Chinatown and the center of Honolulu where you can find the only kings palace in the USA.

After several ours walking in the concrete desert of Honolulu we decided to return to beach and fade out with a relaxing sunset.

Now it is time to say good bye to Oahu as tomorrow we move on the Maui.
Till then
Aloha

Hawaii 2008 - Arrived @ Waikiki

Aloha!
After so many years dreaming of going to Hawaii - and we live so close now actually - now it became true.
We arrived yesterday (18.4.2008) at Honolulu International Airport ... the start of our 3 weeks holiday!

First impressive fact is, that we left Japan in the evening and arrived in the morning on the same day! Yes, we have 19 hours time differents … so we experienced our longest day so far.
We left Japan by rainy weather and 10 degC and arrived at Waikiki at 29 degC and blue sky!
Perfect start!

What you can do on Waikiki’s beach? For sure surfing …

That’s me either … (maybe 20 years later ;-)

Here some more of our first impressions:

You can see – it was real worth dreaming about.
This was just our first 2 days … expect more to come!
